Why don’t diets seem to work?

Going on" a diet is not the answer to losing weight. This is because the weight is soon regained after you "go off" your diet. If diets really worked, there wouldn't be so many of them! Instead, your usual eating and exercising patterns need to be changed so that your weight stays right for you

OBESITY IN CHILDREN

Welcome to the fat calculator page.

SO YOU WAN’T TO FIND OUT HOW FAT OR OBESE YOU ARE

Ok so lets give it a try . good luck ,  lets test your bmi

WHAT’S your BMI? BMI is a reliable indicator of total body fat, which is often related to the risk of disease and death. BMI can be used for both woman and man but it has some limitations:
(1) For people which are overly muscular, like body builders or naturally muscular types BMI can overestimate body fat levels.
(2) For very slim, lightweight boned structures, or older people it can underestimate level of adipose tissue (ie body fat).

Your BMI index number means following:

Underweight Below 20
Normal 20 – 24.9
Overweight 25.0 – 29.9
Obesity 30.0 and Above

Risk Factors: If your BMI shows that you are overweight or obese you should particulary watch out for additional risk factors which can, combined with high BMI lead to serious health problems. Additional risk factors are: high blood pressure (hypertension), high LDL-cholesterol (”bad” cholesterol), low HDL-cholesterol (”good” cholesterol), high triglycerides, high blood glucose (sugar), family history of premature heart disease, physical inactivity, cigarette smoking.

BMI FOR TEENS
The body mass index (BMI) for teens is the relationship between the height and weight of the teen or the child, which directly correlates to the body fat contained within the body and explains the degree of health risk associated with the health of the person. It is measured as BMI = body weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared.

In the case of children and teens, the BMI, also called as BMI-for-age, cannot always be consistent. Since it is based on the height and weight of the child or teen, and they continuously grow, their amount of body fat also changes continuously as they mature. Also, teen boys grow at a different rate than teenage girls do. That is the reason that the BMI tends to be age and gender specific and is not always reliable for children and teens.

The guidelines for body types for children and teens are usually done with respect to an important statistic called BMI percentile. This statistic compares the person’s BMI to thousands of other people under the same reference sample, so as to enable a comparative study of that person’s health with respect to the rest of the population within permissible constraints. People are considered to be underweight if they are in the lowest 5% of the people studied and overweight if they are in the top 5%. People are considered to be in the normal weight range if they are in the middle 90%.

The BMI-for-age is a useful tool because it can be used for adolescents and children even beyond puberty. It compares well with the laboratory results of the body fat and can be used to keep a track of the body size through-out the child’s or the adolescent’s life.

Body Mass Index provides detailed information about body mass index, body mass index definition, body mass index for teens, and more. Body Mass Index is affiliated with Creatine Monohydrate.

BMI for age percentiles
After BMI is calculated for children and teens, the BMI number is plotted on the BMI-for-age growth charts issued by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (for either girls or boys) to obtain a percentile ranking. Percentiles are the most commonly used indicator to assess the size and growth patterns of individual children in the United States. The percentile indicates the relative position of the child’s BMI number among children of the same sex and age. The growth charts show the weight status categories used with children and teens (underweight, healthy weight, at risk of overweight, and overweight)
